Le Mis Backstage Edition: A Sneak Peak

Hello everyone, sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days! I've been taking pictures for my documentary photography class at UVU. We have to work on our final project for the rest of the semester, which ends at the last week of April... bleh... but on the bright side, at least I won't procrastinate! So for my project I decided to document my sister's high school productions team preforming Le Mis. The cool thing about is I'm doing a "backstage edition!" Exciting eh?! The show ended last night and I came up with this idea on Monday morning... so I only got to take pictures backstage for two nights which isn't too great, but hey work with what you got right? So here you see some of the pictures I took the last two nights. I like them a lot, it's just the lighting was so dark backstage and in the tech booth, it was hard to get a good clean looking picture. So I had to bump up the ISO like crazy and keep the shutter speed super slow, which created blur and noise and made them annoying to edit. So all in all, they aren't my favorite pictures I've ever taken in my lifetime, but I'm pretty sure they will fit the bill for my class. Wish me luck!

p.s. they are all in black and white partially because of the coloring I got from the lights and partially because I think it will look more cohesive for my project.

Giving Away A Smile

Last night I was up with my mom coming up with some cute ideas to craft for Easter and throughout the year with the family. After we came up with some solid ideas, we decided to try a few out I went over to where we keep our paints in the craft room downstairs and saw some clipboards.
My sister, Krista, has been working hard in school and so I decided to make a clipboard for her to tell her I was proud of all the work she has been doing. So I was thinking of what to put on the clipboard, when a Disney movie came to mind. In my family everyone is a huge Disney nerd, so if I post a lot of Disney related things you now know why.
Anyway, you know at the end of Monsters Inc. when Sully has his clipboard, and on it he keeps the picture Boo made for him and the piece of her door? Everyone in the movie theater started crying because it's was so tender? Ring a bell? Well, that's what I decided to put on my her clipboard!
I gave it to her this morning and she absolutely loved it. I know it isn't perfect, with the awkward circle around the Monsters Inc. logo or the lines in the picture of Boo and Sully from the Mod-Podge being mean, but it's was special to her. And making someone else feel loved and making others smile is what I thrive on.

P.S. yes I did make all of it. I drew everything and painted/colored everything you see. I'm pretty proud of it, and in case you were wondering the tape is actually vellum that I mod-podged onto the clipboard. Pretty creative, eh?

Throughout My Day

So I've seen this on a couple of other blogs, and I thought it was a good idea and thought I'd try it out. Basically you take pictures of small snippets throughout your day and then you can give them each a title when you post at the end of the day. Since I carry around my camera with me everywhere I go anyway I thought it would be easy to do, but I found myself forgetting and then missing the moment. (ugh) I'll do it again soon and hopefully I'll be better and remember to pull my camera out more often! Oh and this was meant for yesterday the 22nd, but I went to bed at 12am and could barely keep my eyelids open, so I decided to post this morning.

Titles:
- Cleaned the room
- Experimenting in the kitchen
- Please don't leave
- Sticker Heaven
- After school pick up
- Lunch time
- Snow in spring

A Bit About Me

So since this is a new blog, I thought I'd share a little bit about myself before I posted anything else. You already know that I grew up in Texas and I love chocolate, but just in case you were wondering, here are some other things about me:

I have a dog named Toby. He is really sweet and loves treats as well as hugs. He makes my heart smile.

I've recently discovered (on my journeys through Wal-Mart), Calypso. A fabulous lemonade that satisfies my cravings I get every now and again. It's really good, go try some!

I'm have had a journal since I was six years old. If there was ever a fire in my house, my journals would be the first thing I would take with me.

I drive a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle. It's entertaining when I see people punch each other while I drive down the street, but sometimes I feel guilty about it.

This is basically where you will find me if you ever go to my house. The craft room, or as my family likes to call it, "the crap room." Yes it's messy, but hey nothing too amazing came out of a tidy room... or at least I don't think anything has.

I collect snow globes. It's funny, around christmas time I get snow globes galore because that is when every one remembers I collect snow globes. I laugh, but hey I have a lot to decorate with during the holidays!

I love water. The noise, the look, the feeling and I even crave the taste for it. It's my favorite drink (even before Calypso). Go H2O!

I am from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love my religion and I believe it with all my heart. Please don't send hate mail to me because of this, it isn't very kind. If you want to see what I believe go here

And last but not least, This is me. I have curly blonde hair with a mind of it's own, green eyes, and I'm 5'6". I'm a sophomore in the photography major program at Utah Valley University in Orem. I live at home with mother, father, my older brother, Wade, younger sister, Krista, and my dog Toby. I love photography, crafting, service, Disney, Eric Hutchinson, and.... well anything artsy really. If you have any other questions, I'll do my best to answer them, just comment below!
